Tomb of Li Tong

The Tomb of Li Tong is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Tomb of Li Tong is located in Wakou Village, Luxia Town, Yanping District, Nanping City, and dates back to the Song Dynasty.

Description: Constructed in 1163 during the Shaoxing era of the Song Dynasty, it has been restored multiple times. The tomb faces east and is built with brick and stone, featuring a "wind" character-shaped layout. The mound is turtle-back shaped, constructed from blue bricks, with a tombstone erected at the front. The stone measures 0.86 meters in length and 0.36 meters in width, and bears an intaglio inscription in regular script: “Tomb of Mr. Li Tong, Duke of Yue, Grand Tutor of the Song Dynasty, Master of Yanping. Restored in the Ji Mao year of the Zhengde era, Ming Dynasty (1519).” Li Tong (1093–1163), courtesy name Yuanzhong, was commonly known as Master Li Yanping and was one of the Four Sages of Min Learning.

In 2013, the Tomb of Li Tong was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An additional 15 meters extending outward from all sides of the tomb.

Basic Information

By the end of 2011, the village had a total population of 753, including 670 permanent residents and 83 migrants. Of the total population, 389 were male, accounting for 51.66%; 364 were female, accounting for 48.34%; 97 were under 14 years old, accounting for 12.88%; 587 were between 15 and 64 years old, accounting for 77.95%; and 69 were over 65 years old, accounting for 9.16%.
