Rui Long Bridge is located in Maodi Village, Mangdang Town, Yanping District, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Maodi Village: Maodi Village (Maodi Cun)

Geographic and Historical Context Maodi was originally called "Loudi" (literally “Leaking Land”). The mountain surrounding the village resembles an iron wok, with the settlement nestled at the bottom and only an opening at the downstream end—hence the name “Leaking Land.” However, the villagers believed that such a “leak” would drain away good fortune, which was unacceptable. At the time, the creek running through the village was flanked by white sandy beaches, alongside which grew many light-red smartweed plants. Since red is considered an auspicious color in traditional farming culture, the character “蓼” (smartweed) was adopted, and the village was renamed “Liaodi” (Smartweed Land).
