Gaoping Hall is located on Xinxing Street in Xiayang Town, Yanping District, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Xiayang Town: Xiayang Town is a historic and cultural town of Fujian Province, an important commercial hub, and also a key grain-producing area in Yanping District. It is situated in the northwest of Nanping City, Fujian Province, about 48 kilometers from downtown Nanping. To the east, it connects with Mangdang Town; to the south, it borders Wangtai Town; to the west, it adjoins Shunchang County; and to the north, it neighbors Jian’ou. The town is embraced by Yuping Mountain and Zhaoke Mountain, with the Futun River flowing through its entire territory. Hence, it earned its name from the saying, “A place between two mountains and one river is called a gorge (峡), and land south of the mountain and north of the water is called yang (阳).” The area enjoys a mid-subtropical monsoon climate, featuring hot summers without extreme heat, cold winters without severe cold, an average annual temperature of 19.3°C, annual precipitation of 1,600 millimeters, and a frost-free period of over 280 days.
