Former Site of the Frontline Command Post of the Pingjin Campaign

The Former Site of the Frontline Command Post of the Pingjin Campaign is a national AA-level tourist attraction, a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level, and a classic red tourism destination.

It is located in the farmhouse of a local wealthy family in Mengjialou, Jixian County. The house features a brick-and-wood structure, with a long and narrow courtyard. The east and west wing rooms are neatly arranged, while the main room is of a through-style design, consisting of one bright room and two darker ones. The east and west wing rooms were used to accommodate combat, cryptographic, and security personnel; the east secondary room served as the residence of the Front Committee Secretary and the Commander-in-Chief; the west secondary room was set up as the operations room. Anti-bullet wire mesh was installed on the roof.

In December 1948, after the victory of the Liaoshen Campaign, in order to prepare for the Pingjin Campaign, under the instructions of the Central Committee, nearly one million troops of the Northeast Field Army of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, along with special command units, advanced into the pass without resting, establishing their headquarters in Mengjialou and designating the site as the command center for the Pingjin Campaign.

On October 7, 2019, the Former Site of the Frontline Command Post of the Pingjin Campaign was included in the eighth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
