The Zhongshang Yuangu National Nature Reserve is a national nature reserve and a science education base.

The Zhongshang Yuangu National Nature Reserve in Jixian County, Tianjin, is a national-level geological nature reserve formed between 1.8 and 0.8 billion years ago. The standard stratigraphic profile of the Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic systems is located north of Jixian County, east of the road from the county town to Huangyaguan. It starts at Changzhou Village at the northeastern tip of the county and extends layer upon layer in a northeast-to-southwest direction until it reaches Fojun Mountain near the county town, stretching approximately 24 kilometers from north to south and averaging about 350 meters in width from east to west, covering a total area of 8.4 square kilometers. The reserve has established the Dahongyu Geological Science Education Park, which is open to the public free of charge year-round. The area boasts well-preserved natural ecology, lush vegetation, and a complete range of species, characterized by systematic, intact, and diverse features. It also houses the Jixian Zhongshang Yuangu Geological Exhibition Hall, which systematically showcases the full profile of the Zhongshang Yuangu strata, providing a condensed representation of the entire geological section.
