Introduction to the Pan Mountain Stone Pagoda Forest The Stone Pagoda Forest consists of monks' burial stupas, located about half a li in front of the ruins of the ancient Zhongpan Temple. There are over 20 standing and collapsed stone pagodas in total, forming a truly rare historic site. These bone pagodas were all carved from granite, typically constructed from three large stone blocks, and are quite small in size. The central part of the pagoda bears the name of the monk. The pagodas are square, hexagonal, or belly-shaped. Some have eaves, some do not; some are solid, while others are hollow. They vary in shape, height, and style, creating a truly spectacular sight.
