Maojiayu Longevity Resort is located in Chuanfangyu Township, 16 kilometers east of Jizhou District, Tianjin. To the north lies the royal garden-style Jiulongshan National Forest Park, to the south is the vast emerald waters of Cuiping Lake, to the east leads to the Eastern Qing Tombs, and to the west are Niangniangding and the ancient Huangyaguan Great Wall. The resort is embraced by mountains and water, featuring peculiar rocks and stunning scenery; surrounded by hills, it is peaceful and tranquil; it boasts unique landscapes such as hundred-million-year-old stones, vast forests, orchards, century-old trees, long-lived people, and classic-style pavilions; the village enjoys good folkways, upright community values, strong leadership, and vibrant energy. It has now been developed into the only longevity-themed resort in North China. Catering to the social desire for “valuing health and pursuing longevity,” it meets people’s need to “return to simplicity and embrace nature.”

Since 2002, the village’s two committees have followed the county party committee and government’s overall development strategy of “focusing on landscape resources, leveraging tourism, pursuing collaboration, improving the environment, and building a medium-sized tourist city.” In line with local realities, they began developing the tourism industry, investing a total of 80 million yuan to build the Proterozoic Peculiar Stone Forest Scenic Area, Lovers' Valley, Qinglong Lake, a World Tai Chi Health Base, an outdoor training base, a paintball shooting range, a hunting ground, a crop and vegetable sightseeing and picking base, and a fish-catching pond. Forty-six high-standard agritainment lodges have been established, providing a total of 2,000 beds. The village has gradually become the only tourism and leisure resort in North China themed around longevity. Through several years of development, Maojiayu Village has undergone tremendous change. In 2007, the village’s total tourism revenue reached 8 million yuan, with per capita income hitting 26,000 yuan. Operating agritainment lodges has become the main path to prosperity for local farmers.

This year, an investment of 150 million yuan will be made in a 1,700-mu sports park, and construction has begun on two major county-level projects: the 80-million-yuan development of 60 new residential-agritainment hybrid homes. The new village’s overall design reflects principles of staggered layout, comprehensive functionality, convenient transportation, and elegant surroundings. In terms of housing design, both family economics and living needs are considered, reflecting the Confucian ideal of a “five-mu residence” and the clan culture of northern China. For the living environment, all buildings will harmonize with the original mountains, waters, and natural surroundings. Upon completion, the project will not only provide superior living conditions for all Maojiayu villagers but also offer distinctive spaces for family-run businesses, helping upgrade the quality of agritainment accommodations.

Through the implementation of these projects, Maojiayu Village’s tourism industry will reach a higher level, further increasing farmers’ incomes and gradually establishing an ecological, sustainable, and healthy socialist new countryside.
