Huangyaguan Ancient Great Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Huangyaguan Ancient Great Wall was an important pass along the Jizhou section of the Ming Dynasty’s Great Wall and the only fortified town within the county. The rocks on the eastern cliffs of the pass are mostly yellowish-brown, which glow brilliantly under the setting sun, earning it the name “Sunset Glow at Huangya,” from which the pass derives its name.

Stretching from the ancient Huangya Ladder Sentinel Tower to the Tri-Boundary Monument, there are about 6 kilometers of authentically preserved Northern Qi border walls and Ming Dynasty mountain barrier walls, nearly intact watchtowers, as well as numerous ancient Great Wall structures such as sentinel towers, beacon towers, and crenellations.

Major attractions include Huangyaguan Fortified Town, North Pavilion, Phoenix Tower, Widow Tower, the Stone Tablet Forest of Seal Engravings, Huangya Water Pass, Tablet Forest of Hundred Generals, Tablet Forest of Hundred Families, the Great Wall Museum, Bamboo Carving Hall of Famous Couplets, and the Calligraphy Tablet Forest of Mao Zedong’s Poems.

In addition, many outdoor enthusiasts enjoy coming here for exploration, offering plenty of adventure and wild charm.

Transportation

Take a long-distance bus from Tianjin Hebei Coach Terminal to Jixian County. The fare is 40 yuan via the highway (about 100 minutes) and 30 yuan without using the highway. After arriving in Jixian, transfer to a minibus or small van to reach the scenic area, costing 10–25 yuan per person. To return from Huangyaguan Great Wall to Jixian County, you can flag down a vehicle directly on the road outside the scenic area entrance.

Ticket Price

Admission is 65 yuan (half-price with student ID), plus 5 yuan for insurance; the battery car from Bagua City to Taipingzhai Scenic Area costs 20 yuan per person (there are two ticket booths, one at Zhengguan and one at Taipingzhai).

Opening Hours

7:30–18:30 (After ticket sales stop, the scenic area gate remains open, but due to late hours, entry is not recommended for safety reasons).
