The White Pagoda Temple in Jixian County is a cultural tourism attraction.

Along with the Dule Temple, it is a treasure of the ancient Jizhou City. The temple houses three main halls, each containing a set of colorful Buddhist statues. The famous White Pagoda was built in the fourth year of the Qingning era of the Liao Dynasty (1058), and it is one of only seven surviving white pagodas in China today.

The pagoda boasts a distinctive architectural style that combines elements of the pavilion-style, dense-eave style (such as the Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi’an and the White Pagoda in Dali), and the stupa-style (a Tibetan Buddhist style, also seen in some structures in Beijing). Standing 30 meters tall and octagonal in plan, the pagoda’s main gate features finely carved reliefs of musicians and dancers, remarkably lifelike and serving as important artifacts for studying Liao Dynasty music and dance. Inside the southern gate of the pagoda body is a Buddha niche, with murals on the walls. At each of the eight corners, there are double-tiered small towers, and the eaves are adorned with bronze bells. The pagoda also contains many high-value cultural relics, such as a crystal turtle-shaped box and an amber miniature square tower from the Liao Dynasty. The stone banner in front of the pagoda also carries a profound sense of historical weight.

Transportation

Take a direct long-distance bus from Tianjin Hebei Coach Station to Jixian County. After arriving at the Jixian County Coach Station, walk for about 10 minutes to reach the temple; alternatively, transfer to bus routes 531, Jixian Line 1, or Jixian Line 2 to get there directly. You can also take a tricycle for 4 yuan. 2. By car: From the nearby road outside the Dule Temple, you can see the tip of the White Pagoda. There is a small alley nearby with a sign for the White Pagoda Temple. Follow the alley southward for about 1 kilometer, and you will see the entrance of the White Pagoda Temple.

Ticket Price

Admission is 4 yuan; a combined ticket for the White Pagoda, Dule Temple, and Guanyin Pavilion costs 40 yuan.
