Shilong Gorge Scenic Area in Jixian County

The Shilong Gorge Scenic Area in Jixian County, Tianjin, is located north of Duanzhuang Village, Xiaying Town, Jixian County, 25 kilometers from the county seat, covering a total area of over 2,000 hectares. The area features majestic and steep peaks and valleys, continuous streams and waterfalls, and vines climbing and intertwining, presenting picturesque mountain scenery. There is a touching legend behind the name "Shilong Gorge." Beneath the Guilong Bridge, there is a complete stone dragon, half-submerged in the stream, as if trying to swim upstream. Legend has it that this is the dragon from the "Dragon Pool" attempting to ride the mist out of the valley and leap over the Dragon Gate, but then transforms into a carp. The young dragon, full of regret, quickly turns back and jumps back onto the Dragon Pool. Though it turns back into a dragon, it is exhausted and no longer able to swim upstream, so it hides in the water and becomes a stone dragon. The Shilong Gorge scenic area can be divided into upper and lower sections. The upper section is dominated by peculiar rocks, ancient trees, and vast mixed forests, collectively known as the "Emerald Longevity Slope." The slope is covered with exotic flowers and rare ancient trees, lush and green all over. The lower section mainly features bridges and waterfalls, including more than ten stone arch bridges, suspension bridges, plank walks, and stepping stones, along with countless pools and waterfalls.
