Overview and main features: The Quhu Linyuan Ancient Trail is the Ruian section of the ancient Quhu Trail connecting Ouhai and Ruian, also known as the Fen Shuicheng Ancient Trail. With an elevation of 454 meters, the trail starts in Linyuan Village, Huling Town, and ends at Fen Shuicheng Ridge, which borders Quxi Subdistrict in Ouhai District. Passing through Fen Shuicheng, it descends northward toward Quxi and downtown Wenzhou. Established as early as the 5th century, it stretches 5.6 kilometers in total with a width of 1.5 meters. Along the trail, you’ll find maple trees, pine trees, and bamboo forests. In autumn, the flaming red maples create a spectacular sight, making it a renowned red maple trail. The trail extends from southwest to northeast along the upper reaches of the 31st Stream, built alongside the creek. Along the way, there is one preserved section of ancient city wall, two stone arch bridges, three ancient road shelters, several covered pavilions, temples, shrines, stone inscriptions, ruins of paper-making workshops, and four small villages: Linyuan, Lingtou, Fengshu??, and Xi’an Tang. The area boasts dense forest vegetation including maple, pine, and bamboo trees, with hundreds of ancient sweet gum trees lining both sides of the trail. Together with the waterfalls, deep pools, and oddly shaped rocks along the creek, they form beautiful natural scenery.

Huling Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Ruian City. Established as a town in 1931, reclassified as a township in 1949, renamed a commune in 1958, called Huyuqiao Town in 1984, and restored as Huling Town in 1992 after merging with Kengyuan Township. Located in the mountainous northwest of the city, it is 34 kilometers from the urban area, with the town government stationed in Datong Village. Covering an area of 31.4 square kilometers, it has a population of 22,000. The Ruifeng (Ruian–Fengling) Highway runs through the town.
