Xiushan Island

Xiushan Island is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Xiushan Island lies between Zhoushan Island and Daishan Island. Legend has it that Xiushan Island is the "Fangzhang Island," one of the three celestial islands in the sea, and is often hailed as the "Shangri-La on the Sea." Originally, Xiushan Island consisted of two separate islands—Xiushan and Lanshan—which were divided by the sea. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, land reclamation projects connected the two islands, hence it is also known as Lanshuxiu Mountain. The eastern coastline of the island, including areas such as Jiuzi, Sanjiao, Mouhu, and Houshiyang, boasts a series of sandy beaches with golden sands, fine texture, gentle slopes, and abundant seashells, making it an ideal summer holiday destination. The island features lush mountains, clear blue waters, flat and delicate beaches, towering and peculiar rocks, and dense, verdant trees. Su Dongpo once wrote the verse, "Lanshan sways while Xiushan dances, half-revealed peach blossoms float on the water," vividly capturing the dynamic scene of the tides and the undulating mountain shadows. Major attractions on the island include the Mud Theme Park, seaside bathing beaches, Xiushan Beaches, Jiuzi Foyu (Buddha Islet), Longevity Chan Temple, the Ancestral Hall of the Li Clan, the Five Major Houses of the Li Family, and Lion Rock. Visiting Xiushan Island mainly involves experiencing the local fishing village lifestyle, enjoying the leisurely life of sea fishermen. During the day, you can visit the Mud Theme Park to enjoy activities such as mud bathing, mud therapy, mud fishing, primitive mud sliding, barrel mud sliding, mud sports competitions, modern mud slimming, mud climbing, and mud slides. On the beaches, you can collect shells, play in the water, play beach volleyball, go near-shore fishing, join fishing trips, pull nets for shrimp, or catch crabs in crab traps. In the evening, stay with local fishermen, enjoy authentic seafood meals, and admire the beautiful sunset over the sea.

Accommodation: Staying with local fishermen costs approximately 30–60 RMB per person per night.
