Sijiao Scenic Area

The Sijiao Scenic Area is located in the political, economic, and cultural center of Shengsi County. The area mainly includes Sijiao Island, the main island, as well as Big and Small Huanglong Islands, Maji Mountain, and nearby islets. Baijie Island and Banbian Mountain are considered “enclaves” within the Sijiao Scenic Area.

The Sijiao Scenic Area centers around Sijiao Island, the main island, and is best known for its expansive stretches of blue sea and golden sands. Sijiao Island alone boasts 14 high-quality beaches of varying sizes, among which the most famous are Jihu Beach and Nanchangtu Beach, both extending over 2,000 meters in length. These two beaches, one in the south and one in the north, are nestled against mountains and forests, featuring beautiful shapes, fine and clean sand, and broad, gentle slopes—making them rare large-scale coastal bathing spots in China, ideal for sand bathing, sunbathing, and various water sports. Among them, Jihu Beach is hailed as the “Beidaihe of the South” and “China’s Hawaii.”

The scenic area is dotted with oddly shaped rocks that add lively charm. Examples include the legendary “Jadeite Rock” on Huanglong Island, the “Sea Erosion Rainbow Bridge” on Maji Mountain, also known as the “Arch of Triumph at Sea,” as well as prime sunrise viewpoints like Liujing Tidal Flat, the Buddhist site Dabeishan Mountain, Jian Mountain for sunrise viewing, Jihu Moon Shadow, Clever Rat Playing in the Sea, Flower Sedan and Jade Beauty, Flag-Raising Viewpoint, Dabeishan Summit, Liujing Cliff Reefs, Gongshan Windmill, Baijie Lighthouse, Jianmen Rapids, Flame Rock, Nose-Piercing Cave, Torpedo Cave, and more. These marvelous works of nature form a series of vivid and beautiful landscapes.
