Xu Fu Square
Xu Fu Square
More than 2,000 years ago, after unifying the six states, Emperor Qin Shi Huang sent Xu Fu with thousands of young boys and girls on a sea voyage to find the elixir of immortality in the legendary immortal mountains. Xu Fu’s eastward journey passed through Daishan, which has since been historically referred to as Penglai Immortal Island. To commemorate Xu Fu’s voyage, the local people of Daishan built Xu Fu Square on the western side of Moxin Mountain in Gaoting. The square faces the sea to the south and offers a wide view, covering an area of 1,877 square meters. At the center of the square stands a large stone statue of Xu Fu, 10 meters tall, surrounded by stone railings and benches. The entrance features an archway and Bagua pillars, all exquisitely crafted from imitation antique-style reinforced concrete. Xu Fu Square is a memorial named after the famous Qin Dynasty figure Xu Fu and also serves as a venue for local Taoist cultural activities.
