Qushan Island
Qushan Island (also known as Daqu) is located 27 kilometers northeast of Gaoting Town, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, covering an area of 59.94 square kilometers (including 0.147 square kilometers from the Zhangwangtao and Tiantu land reclamation projects), with a population of 70,000. It was historically called Daqu Mountain, Qushan, or Gushan. Guanyin Mountain is the most scenic spot on the island, with an elevation of 314 meters, making it the highest peak in Daishan County. The peaks are arranged in a continuous formation resembling a lotus flower. Legend has it that Guanyin Bodhisattva stayed here for three years before going to Mount Putuo to pursue spiritual practice. The island has 3 square kilometers of salt pans, and is one of the main production areas of “Da salt.” Tourists can view the quite spectacular large salt fields along the central coastal area of the island. In the eastern part of Qushan Island, there is a valley where two mountains face each other with undulating ridges.
