Ciyun Bliss Temple (Ciyun Bliss Chan Temple)
Ciyun Bliss Temple (Ciyun Bliss Chan Temple) is a cultural tourism attraction.
Ciyun Bliss Chan Temple is located on Moxin Mountain in the southeastern part of Daishan Island and was expanded from Ciyun Nunnery. It was first built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, with a history of over 240 years. Since its establishment, the temple has endured many hardships. Starting in 1983, it was renovated and expanded with funds donated by devotees from both China and abroad, and now it has grown into a large complex. It mainly consists of a parking lot, mountain gate, Fan Valley Echo, liberation pond, bell tower, drum tower, Mahavira Hall, Jade Buddha Hall, Penglai Ten Scenes Poetry Wall, scripture depository, Kṣitigarbha Hall, Yixin Pavilion, Ciyun Nunnery, Jade Buddha Pagoda, and Penglai Tea Garden, covering an area of nearly 100 acres.
Walking up the steps from the parking lot, on the left is the Fan Valley Echo Cave, with the liberation pond outside the cave. Passing through the high steps leads to the Penglai Buddhist Kingdom Gate Tower (the main mountain gate). On the left is the drum tower, on the right is the bell tower, and in the middle is the Jade Buddha Hall, which is about 200 square meters and enshrines a white jade reclining Buddha as the main deity. On both sides are the Eighteen Arhats, varying in shape and size. Above the Jade Buddha Hall is the main hall of the temple — the Three Saints Hall, which is 25.3 meters high and enshrines a nearly 10-meter-tall gilded "Western Three Saints." The entire hall is majestic and resplendent in gold and color.
