Samsung International Lighthouse
The lighthouse is located on Xiāsān Star Island, 6 kilometers east of Shǔlánghú Island, and is the second-largest lighthouse on the western coast of the Pacific Ocean. Constructed in 1911 by the British Marine Department, its primary function was to guide passing ships. Now an international lighthouse, it features a white steel-plated riveted cylindrical tower standing 7.9 meters tall, with a steel spiral staircase. The light is positioned at 63 meters above sea level, and its beam reaches 20 li. The island is small, with landing points on both the northern and southern sides. The north side has a stone path, while the south side has a 1.6-meter-wide cement road. From the island, you can overlook the vast sea, where waves crash against the shore, offering breathtaking views of the expansive blue East China Sea. The surrounding reefs are teeming with various types of shellfish and crabs, which can be easily picked up, and it’s common to catch fish such as stonefish and yellow croaker.
