Chaoguo Temple
Chaoguo Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.
"Chaoguo" is a Buddhist term meaning to attain enlightenment after transcending the mundane world. The Republican-era *Dai Mountain Town Annals · Literary Works · Record of Chaoguo Temple* states: During the Song Dynasty, Chaoguo Temple on Dai Mountain Island was already "the most celebrated site on the island, with expansive foundations, grand construction, pine and bamboo encircling the hills, and lotus ponds winding around the buildings. Those seeking scenic beauty and tranquility all lingered here in endless admiration." By the Ming Dynasty, raids by Japanese pirates had left Chaoguo Temple in ruins. During the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, the monk Zixiu came to Dai Mountain to raise funds for its reconstruction, "renovating the main hall, corridors, monastic quarters, and kitchen to a fresh state, and additionally constructing a mountain gate and installing Vajra statues, thus adding even more luster to this centuries-old Chaoguo Temple today." Chongfu Temple: This temple was originally built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty, hence its name Chongfu (meaning "Honor and Blessing"). It underwent two major renovations during the Kangxi and Qianlong eras of the Qing Dynasty. The temple now houses a "Chongfu Temple" plaque from the Qianlong Wuwu year and another from the Guangxu era. This purely Qing Dynasty ancient structure remains well-preserved. Though modest in size, its layout is rigorously organized. Today, the front and main halls are flanked by wing rooms on both sides, forming a courtyard; in the center is a stage, with a screen wall in front of the hall and side gates to the east and west, creating a separate courtyard. The total floor area is nearly 1,000 square meters.
