Liyangmen Square (Liyangmen Park)

Liyangmen is the symbol of the ancient city of Lishui and also a new landmark of the city. It is a repository of history. The late 1950s, early 1960s, and late 1970s are unforgettable periods. Having endured over 1,700 years of history, the ancient city of Lishui could not survive these two challenging eras and began to fall into disrepair. Today, only a fragmented South Ming Gate (a large water gate) and a remnant section of the ancient city wall in Liyangmen Park remain, making Liyangmen a memory of the past.

Liyangmen Square is located in the center of Lishui urban area. On the west side of the square, there is a remaining section of the ancient Chuzhou Prefecture city wall, and at the center of the square stands a group of Lotus City sculptures, which serve as the iconic feature.
