The ruins of Mengcheng Ancient City Wall are a cultural relic protection unit of Changzhou City.

The ruins of Mengcheng Ancient City Wall are located inside the South Gate (Dananmen) of Menghe Town, Xinbei District (south of the former residence of Fei Boxiong). A section of the surviving wall remains near Dingchang Gate (the South Gate): an earthen mound of the original city wall measuring 25 meters in length, 15 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. The northern section is 16 meters long, the eastern section is 8.20 meters wide, and the height is about 3 meters. Menghe City was built in the 37th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1558). The city had five gates in total, with walls over two zhang high and a circumference of more than 670 zhang, approximately four Chinese miles. Built along the river, the fortress gradually came to be known as “Menghe City” (abbreviated as “Mengcheng”).

Menghe Town: In 2003, following an administrative division adjustment in Xinbei District, the former Xiaohé Town and Menghe Town were merged to form Menghe Town. In 2011, with the approval of the provincial government, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park was established. In 2015, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and Menghe Town implemented a “park-town integration” management system and began operating jointly. The Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park (Menghe Town) lies to the north against the Yangtze River and the 10,000-mu forest park of Little Huangshan, to the east borders Chunjian Town, to the northeast neighbors Xilaiqiao Town of Zhenjiang’s Yangzhong, to the south connects Xixiashu Town, and to the west adjoins Gaogiao and the Little Huangshan mountain range of Danyang, Zhenjiang...
