More New Taipei City YouBike stations to be added in September with three new sites in Sanchong

The number of YouBike stations in New Taipei City continues to expand. Following the rollout in Xindian and Xizhi, the densely populated districts of Sanchong and Luzhou — which together have a population of hundreds of thousands — are also set to get stations along their MRT lines. In September, three stations will be installed in Sanchong, while future plans for Luzhou include possible setups near Luzhou MRT Station and St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School MRT Station, though the timing remains undecided.

YouBike has become an indispensable mode of transport for residents in the Greater Taipei area. Although the initial rollout in Xindian and Xizhi included only a limited number of rental stations, it received largely positive feedback. Now the New Taipei City government is turning its attention to Sanchong and Luzhou, andplans to open the first three stations in Sanchong this September in front of Zhongshan Arts Park, at Rose Park, and at Xinghua Park.These three locations are all within about one kilometer of each other and close to MRT stations. Once completed, the three stations are expected to provide a total of 150 bicycles.

To date, six YouBike stations have been established in New Taipei City. By the end of the year, 60 stations with 1,600 bicycles are planned to be operational in areas including Xindian, Xizhi, Xinzhuang, Sanchong, Luzhou, and Shuanghe. The network is set to further expand to 100 stations and 2,800 bikes by 2015, available for rental by residents across New Taipei City.
