New Taipei Spring Tea Mini-Tours: Choose Freely from 5 Zones and 12 Routes

Starting June 8, New Taipei City holds the “New Taipei Good Tea: True Skill, Good Tea” event every Saturday and Sunday in Pingshi Old Street, featuring premium teas from various districts in New Taipei, including the renowned Wenshan Pouchong, Shimen Tieguanyin, Linkou Longshou Tea, Shiding Oriental Beauty Tea, and Sanxia’s Biluochun and honey-flavored black tea, showcasing the city’s unique ability to produce a wide variety of teas. Based on the different characteristics of the teas, in addition to brewing them for drinking, various applications have been developed. This time, the New Taipei City Government has exclusively launched the Pouchong Card using the high-quality Wenshan Pouchong tea from New Taipei—playing on the homophone “bao zhong” (guaranteed success)—so that the public can not only drink Wenshan Pouchong tea but also use products made with it. Simply purchase tea at the Good Tea Exhibition next to the Pingshi Tea Museum during the event period to receive one. With the rich aroma of Pouchong tea and the blessing of the Pingshi Tea Deity Mazu, everyone will have “guaranteed success.” In addition, every weekend in Pingshi Old Street there are free DIY experience activities. Among the recommended Spring Tea Mini-Tour self-guided routes, in Pingshi you can start from the Pingshi District Tourism Service Center and proceed in order to the Aquatic Footbridge, Yudaiyu Pond Fish-Watching Bicycle Trail (walking), Tea Soap DIY, Pingshi Tea Museum, and Pingshi Old Street. Both Pingxi and Sanxia focus on tea garden picking and tea-making experiences as their main themes, and each recommends additional activities such as painting sky lanterns and exploring old streets. The Linkou area emphasizes an in-depth tea region tour, starting with explanations of tea-making essentials and hands-on practice, covering the entire process including withering, rolling, initial drying, breaking up the leaves, ball rolling, re-drying, and stem removal, allowing visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the tea-making process in just one day. Shiding combines attractions such as the Blue-Green Ancient Trail, Shiding Old Street, Blue-Green Art Museum, Feitsui Reservoir, Shiding Erge Mountain Nature Center, and Emperor Pavilion, planning five self-guided routes for the public to choose from based on their preferences.
