10 Cherry Blossom Trails in New Taipei City – A Flutter of Petals Until March

As cherry blossom season unfolds across Taiwan, New Taipei City has handpicked 10 cherry blossom trails from its 29 districts, featuring over 150,000 blooming cherry trees. These include Taiwan mountain cherries, double-flowered yaezakura, and Yoshino cherries, which will bloom successively from now until the end of March—two full months of stunning petal showers for everyone to enjoy.

The New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau noted that the 10 recommended cherry blossom trails are: Erge Road in Shiding District, Dahu Road–Qingshan Road in Sanzhi District, Sansheng Trail in Sanzhi District, Yuantian Temple–Maple Lake in Tamsui District, Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue in Tamsui District, Dajianshan Trail in Xizhi District, Waterfall Park–Xilu'an Industrial Road in Wulai District, Gold Museum in Ruifang District, Hongluodi in Zhonghe District, and Taiji Ridge–Tonghua Park in Tucheng District.

The bureau also pointed out that cherry varieties in New Taipei City include the “city tree” Taiwan mountain cherry (Prunus campanulata), the multi-petaled yaezakura, and the delicate pink Yoshino cherry, which bloom sequentially starting from the end of January. In addition to well-known suburban viewing spots, urban areas such as Zhonghe’s Taomao No. 1 Village, Tucheng’s River of Hope, and Xizhi’s Qingxiu Temple also offer lovely scenes of pink cherry blossoms in full bloom.
