Tourism Center/Comprehensive report
As autumn arrives and the weather cools down, the New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Bureau recommends six autumn hiking trails. These not only encourage people to go hiking but also offer a chance to enjoy the beautiful mountain and forest scenery along the way. The featured trails include the Shitoushan Trail in Xindian District, the Wufen Mountain Trail in Pingxi District, the Xiaocukeng Trail in Ruifang District, the Guanyinshan Hard Man Ridge Trail in Wugu District, the Neigou Mountain Trail in Xizhi District, and the Yixian Mountain Trail in Shuangxi District. Each has its own unique appeal and is well worth a visit.
This summer, the New Taipei City Government launched four hiking routes that received positive feedback. Now that autumn is here, they have added six more challenging hiking trails. The city government stated that each trail offers different scenery, but the one thing they all share is that after the rewarding climb, the view at the top will definitely make every visitor feel it was well worth the effort.

For example, once you reach the top of Xindian’s Shitoushan, you can enjoy panoramic views of Bitan and the Xindian River. Since it’s close to Taipei City, you can even see Taipei 101, and with an elevation of just 200 meters, it’s relatively easy and very popular. Along the Wufen Mountain Trail in Ruifang, you can take in the full view of Keelung. Once you climb up to Guanyinshan’s Hard Man Ridge, you’ll be able to overlook the scenic beauty of Tamsui and Bali.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that the promoted trails are divided into “Family-Friendly,” “Hard-Core,” and “Adventurer” levels. Yixian Mountain and Shitoushan are the easiest, Guanyinshan and Neigou Mountain are of moderate difficulty (Hard-Core), while Xiaocukeng and Wufen Mountain Trails are more challenging (Adventurer level). Hikers can take on these trails step by step according to their experience.
