With Lichun (the Beginning of Spring) having arrived, cherry blossoms across New Taipei City’s districts are also blooming in response to spring. The New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau reports that cherry blossoms can currently be seen at Waterfall Park and Warriors Square in Wulai District, County Highway 1028 in Wanli District, A’rouyang Industrial Road in Shenkeng District, Hongludi in Zhonghe District, Qingshan Road in Sanchi District, Taiji Ridge in Tucheng District, Datong Mountain in Shulin District, Jingting Station in Pingxi District, Guanyin Platform in Pinglin District, Guanyin Temple on Zhulin Mountain in Linkou District, Quchi Park in Xindian District, Wenshan Farm, and Dajianshan in Xizhi District.

The New Taipei City Government has also recommended two cherry blossom viewing routes during the bloom. For “family cherry blossom viewing,” it is suggested to hike from the Tamsui Husi Cherry Blossom Avenue to Tamsui Old Street; for “couple cherry blossom viewing,” one can stroll from the Tamsui Husi Cherry Blossom Avenue to Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf.

Additionally, the New Taipei City Government held a hiking event on February 7th at the Husi Cherry Blossom Avenue in Tamsui District, inviting the public to go outdoors for a spring outing. The route leads through Dengli Village and Shuxing Li into the Husi Cherry Blossom Avenue. The entire cherry blossom viewing hike takes about 2 hours. Along the way, pink mountain cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and at the end of the trail, pink Kawazu-zakura blossoms also begin to show their beauty. Those who wish to go cherry blossom viewing can exit from Exit 2 of Tamsui MRT Station, walk along Xuefu Road for about 10 minutes to reach Puxue Chan Temple, where they can pick up a challenge card. All participants who complete the full route and collect all the stamps can exchange for one beautifully crafted cherry blossom bowl at the final stop. Quantities are limited and will be given out until supplies last, so those interested should seize the opportunity.
