As the bitter cold draws to an end, the frost-defying plum blossoms gradually exit the stage, making way for "peach blossoms red and plumleaf crabapple blossoms white" — the most dazzling stars of early spring in the mountainous regions. Currently, across Alishan areas including Shizhao, Taihe, and Ruiili, one can see the plumleaf crabapple blossoms in full bloom, painting the landscape in snow-white hues. The blooming period is expected to last until the end of the month — don’t miss it!

Currently, the most visitor-friendly plumleaf crabapple orchard is Ruiili Village in Meishan Township. About 500 meters down a turnoff at the 73.8 km mark along Provincial Highway 166 lies Kezailin Sightseeing Orchard (nearby the Walk in the Clouds Homestay — there are signs made by the homestay owner along Provincial Highway 166). The orchard owner generously allows free public visits between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The plumleaf crabapple trees cover half the mountainside, creating a breathtaking snowy-white scene reminiscent of a painting. It is recommended that you stay at a Ruiili homestay to take it all in, then the next day explore the Green Tunnel, as well as natural wonders such as the Thousand-Year Bat Cave, Swallow Cliff, and Yuntan Waterfall.
