The Ruins of Ding Ganren’s Former Residence

The ruins of Ding Ganren’s former residence are a cultural relic protection unit of Changzhou City.

The ruins of Ding Ganren’s former residence are located at the intersection of Mengcheng West Road and Menghe Avenue in Menghe Town, Xinbei District, Changzhou. The original residence no longer exists. The site now features a memorial dedicated to Ding Ganren and has become an important training base for the Menghe School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Menghe School is a historically influential school in the development of modern TCM and has made remarkable contributions to the advancement of traditional Chinese medicine. Ding Ganren (1865–1926), one of the representative figures of the Menghe School, served as the first president of the “Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine Association.” He pioneered the integration of traditional master-apprentice education with institutional medical education, laying the foundation for the development of TCM in New China.

Menghe Town: In 2003, following an administrative division adjustment in Xinbei District, the former Xiaohé Town and Menghe Town were merged to form Menghe Town. In 2011, with approval from the provincial government, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park was established. In 2015, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and Menghe Town adopted a unified “park-town integrated” management system and began operating jointly. The Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park (Menghe Town) lies to the north against the Yangtze River and the vast forest park of Little Huangshan, borders Chunjian Town to the east, neighbors Xilaiqiao Town of Zhenjiang’s Yangzhong to the northeast, connects to Xixiashu Town to the south, and adjoins Gaogiao and the Little Huangshan mountain range of Danyang, Zhenjiang, to the west...
