New West Gate Shuangjing

New West Gate Shuangjing is a cultural relic protection unit of Changzhou City.

New West Gate Shuangjing: The wells located at No. 17 and No. 20, New West Gate, Menghe Town, Xinbei District (No. 17 and No. 20, New West Gate) — the one in front of No. 17 is called Chunquan Well, a round well with inscribed dates on its body, while the one in front of No. 20 is a hexagonal well. According to the *Wujin Mengcheng Township Annals*, the twin wells were funded and dug in 1918 by the famous physician Ding Ganren to provide drinking water for residents. Ding Ganren (1865–1926) was one of the representative figures of the Menghe Medical School. He was known for his philanthropy, willingly donating to build bridges and pave roads without hesitation. The New West Gate Shuangjing wells stand as a testament to Ding Ganren’s spirit of compassion.

Menghe Town: In 2003, following an administrative division adjustment in Xinbei District, the former Xiaohé Town and Menghe Town were merged to form Menghe Town. In 2011, with approval from the provincial government, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park was established. In 2015, the Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and Menghe Town adopted a “park-town integrated” management system and began operating jointly. The Jiangsu Xinbei Modern Agricultural Industrial Park (Menghe Town) lies to the north against the Yangtze River and the vast forest park of Little Huangshan, borders Chunjian Town to the east, faces Xilaiqiao Town of Yangzhong, Zhenjiang to the northeast, connects to Xixiashu Town to the south, and adjoins Gaogiao and the Little Huangshan mountain range of Danyang, Zhenjiang to the west...
