Zhao Yue Mountain National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

The pilot site of Zhao Yue Mountain National Wetland Park is located in the northwest of Zhaodong urban area, covering a total area of 235.37 hectares, with a wetland area of 141.24 hectares, accounting for 60% of the total. The park boasts unique scenic appeal and serves as a typical representative of similar wetlands in northern China. It is a well-preserved wetland area within the jurisdiction of Zhaodong City, with an intact ecosystem, strong water storage and purification capabilities, effectively delivering the ecological services of the wetland system to benefit the residents of Zhaodong City and its surrounding areas.

With verdant mountains, sparkling waters, swaying reeds, and flocks of birds — the scenery is striking, as if you were in the water towns of southern China. This is the model of Zhaodong’s ecological construction and sustainable economic development, and a national A-level scenic spot: Zhao Yue Mountain National Wetland Park. Located in the northwest of the urban area, the park has a planned construction area of 2.37 million square meters. It features five functional zones: entrance buffer zone, landscape zone, leisure and entertainment zone, wetland viewing zone, and management service zone. Key facilities include a visitor service center, comprehensive office center, wetland research center, museum, family fun zone, shaded garden, artificial feeding experience zone, electric cart station, Zhao Yue Mountain, Jingxin Lake, lake island for birds, squares, lawns, docks, corridors, and pavilions. Visitors can climb to the main peak of Zhao Yue Mountain, which stands at 52 meters above sea level, to enjoy a panoramic view of Zhaodong City and witness the achievements of integrated urban-industrial development. The gourd-shaped Jingxin Lake, symbolizing beauty and good fortune, is beginning to take shape, while 15 species of nationally protected wildlife — such as greater white-fronted geese and grey cranes — gather in groups to play in the water. Over 100,000 trees, including Populus berolinensis, lilacs, cold-resistant fruit trees, weeping willows, and sea buckthorn, create a vivid and natural leisure landscape. “Enjoying mountain and water views without leaving the city, and experiencing forest and spring charm in the midst of the urban bustle” — this naturally rustic wetland park, with its interplay of landscapes, fish and birds, rustling pines, and lush greenery, offers visitors a rich green feast.

Zhao Yue Mountain National Wetland Park is home to over 200,000 trees and shrubs, including willows, Populus berolinensis, and lilacs, as well as 800 acres of reeds. Thanks to the improved ecology, wildlife has flourished, including first-class nationally protected species such as great bustards, and second-class protected species such as crested honey buzzards, Eurasian sparrowhawks, white goshawks, and Eurasian marsh harriers.

The service facilities within the wetland park are relatively complete. A 5-kilometer road encircles the lake, and there are two cruise boats available, allowing visitors to leisurely explore the entire wetland park by boat or electric cart. The favorable environment of the wetland park has also facilitated the establishment of a film base, with distinctive structures built for filming purposes — such as European-style houses and churches — becoming another highlight that attracts large numbers of tourists.
