"Dreamy bubbles from the 'Little White Whale' car—fun public art debuts in Taitung City"

If you’ve recently visited Taitung City, you’ll find a few fun new "friends." Two public artworks, planned by the Taitung County Government, were unveiled today—the colorful "Tree of Dreams" and the adorable "Bubble White Whale Ice Cream" car. The latter even emits dreamy bubbles, delighting locals with its novelty.

The Taitung County Government’s Tourism Bureau stated that the "Railway New Settlement," part of the Taitung International Tourism Charm Hub project, is one of the county’s recent tourism initiatives. This public art installation consists of four pieces, with the other two set to be completed by the end of June. The main theme encourages designers to reinterpret "The Revival of Taitung’s Charm." The "Bubble White Whale Ice Cream," located near the old train engine shed, was designed by artist AKIBO (Lee Ming-Dao). The concept draws inspiration from the Paiwan tribe’s "legend of the ancient giant fish," incorporating Taitung’s railway culture into the whale-shaped design.

The "Tree of Dreams," situated in the square in front of the Taitung Transfer Station (former train station), was crafted by artist Ms. Rao Aiqin using mosaic materials to collage images of old and new Taitung. The "Bubble White Whale Ice Cream" also has a special feature—it releases bubbles loved by children. The Tourism Bureau explained that starting now, every Saturday and Sunday from 3 PM to 9 PM, the bubble machine on its back will activate on the hour, creating a particularly magical effect at night.
