Rediscover the long-buried memories of residents by “accidentally” encountering the Blue Print in Taitung City.

The popular “Blue Print” attraction in Tainan was painted over earlier this year, leaving visitors disappointed — yet many also discovered for the first time that there’s a hidden version of the Blue Print in Taitung. Some travelers even “stumbled upon” it here, experiencing both surprise and a sense of ease.

The Blue Print in Taitung City is located behind the Eslite Story House. It is formed by two walls of an old building along with a bicycle, sofa chair, sewing machine, and fence all painted in a touch of blue, creating an extraordinary sense of tranquility. Only then do you realize how powerful the color blue can be. Coupled with fine, clear white lines, it feels as if the decades-old building is declaring its rebirth to the world.

“The content on the wall represents some past memories, expressed using future techniques. It’s a juxtaposition of the past and the future,” artist Liu Guocang once said.The concept is conveyed through the words; what connects the past and the future is not any commercial or urban high-rise buildings, but rather one old wall after another — weathered and filled with vivid memories.

The Blue Print at night still carries a lazy charm. Under the dim glow of streetlights, it takes on a somewhat surreal feel. As you approach, you’ll notice the ever-changing visual effects that invite repeated viewing without ever feeling tiresome. This is the perfect time for a cup of coffee to while away the evening, quietly gazing up at this patch of blue in the city.

It is understood thatthe Tainan City Cultural Affairs Bureau is currently planning a “New Blue Print,” to be installed in a micro cultural and creative park created from the renovation of old judicial dormitories in a lane on Section 1, Ximen Road. The original designer, Liu Guocang, will once again be involved. The project is expected to be completed by the end of June, with the overall micro cultural and creative park slated for completion and opening around the end of the year.
