Mini Stall Art Gallery: An Artistic Space Hidden in Pingtung Night Market

The Pingtung City Government has officially opened the “Stall Gallery” at stall No. 40 in the night market on the 18th. Nestled in an alley of Pingtung’s Ethnic Night Market, the Stall Gallery will showcase artworks through “glass display windows” to tell the stories of Pingtung.

The open-air stall market, which originated during the Japanese colonial period, was once a vibrant hub in the Pingtung area. Many vendors at Ethnic Road Night Market started their businesses here. Although it has lost some of its former bustle as vendors have moved to Ethnic and Minquan Roads, traces of its storied past remain.

Therefore, the Pingtung City Government has specially set up the Stall Gallery within the alleys of the night market, hoping to attract new visitors by integrating art with everyday life, thereby promoting night market tourism. The 2.5-ping mini gallery aims to connect people with the night market through art, offering an alternative artistic space for the enduring public stall market and revitalizing Ethnic Night Market as its vision.
