Qianyang Cave Site

The Qianyang Cave Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Paleolithic Age

The Qianyang Cave Site is located on the mountainside behind Baijiagou in Shanchengzi Village, Qianyang Town, Donggang City, Dandong, Liaoning Province. It lies 35 kilometers northeast of Dandong City and 30 kilometers south of the Yellow Sea. The cave is situated on a mountainside, surrounded by low hills and hillocks, with the highest peak reaching an elevation of 159.1 meters. It is a site from the Paleolithic Age. The remaining cave entrance, before excavation, was 0.75 meters high and 2 meters wide, with cultural deposits inside the cave about 1.5 meters thick. Only half of the deposits near the cave entrance were excavated during this dig. Human fossils, mammal fossils, and stone tools were among the artifacts unearthed in the cave. In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.

Protected Area: With the cave entrance as the center point, the protected area extends 100 meters east, 100 meters west, 40 meters south to the cliff edge, and north to the line between the peak of Laolan Mountain and the northern hill of Fengjiabao.

Construction Control Zone: A Class I construction control zone is designated within 100 meters outside the protected area.
