The Pingtung Black Marlin Festival Celebrates Mother’s Day with 10% Discounts at Donggang Fish Market Restaurants

With Mother’s Day just two days away, even fish markets are cashing in on the “Mother’s Day business opportunity.” A series of Black Marlin Festival events in Pingtung will be held at the Overseas Chinese Market on May 10th, featuring 10% discounts. Visitors are encouraged to bring their moms to Donggang for a trip and even join the bidding to take home their favorite seafood.

The Tourism and Communications Department stated that Donggang boasts abundant seafood, with many catches auctioned at the fish market before being sold at the Overseas Chinese Market. In recent years, the original site of the Overseas Chinese Market has been rebuilt and renamed the “Donggang Fishing Port Seafood Direct Sales Center,” covering nearly 1,500 pyeong with over 400 stalls. It not only has the scale of a seafood department store but also retains the charm of a traditional market, making it the largest seafood retail market in Pingtung County.

Currently, seasonal seafood in Donggang includes tuna, swordfish, and dolphinfish. Starting in the afternoon each day, the Overseas Chinese Market becomes bustling with activity. Fresh seafood and a variety of seafood dishes are all top-quality offerings. To let the public experience the thrill of seafood auctions, a vendor shouting event will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 PM on May 10th, led by local seafood auction experts, allowing visitors to take home the freshest catch.

Additionally, 10 restaurants certified for excellent food hygiene in black marlin cuisine—Donggang Dongxi, Weiyi Food Store, Ren Number, Dongxing Food (Retail Branch), Chengji Shuanggao Run Store, Bafu Home-style Braised Dishes, Jiazhen Seafood Store, Zhangjia Canteen Fresh Food Club, Dong F Restaurant, and Fuwan Manor—are each offering 10% discounts or free gifts with qualifying purchases to celebrate Mother’s Day with the public.
