Taiwan’s so-called longest skywalk, the “Baguashan Skywalk,” began a three-month free trial operation in July. Although the Changhua County Government previously stated that it would remain free until the end of the year, discussions have recently started regarding future pricing, with a current preference for a maximum fee of NT$50.

Typhoon Meranti, a powerful storm, recently hit Taiwan, bringing strong winds and heavy rain that whipped up 10-meter-high waves in Taitung. These caused the red lighthouse at Fugang Fishing Port to break and fall into the sea, and also obstructed the shipping routes of the Fugang–Green Island and Orchid Island ferry lines. To serve travelers and local residents, the Taitung County Government has coordinated with ferry operators to add one extra round-trip service between Chenggong and Orchid Island as well as Green Island on September 21 and 22. Travelers are advised to stay informed.

Typhoon Meranti Damage Repaired Early: Alishan Forest Railway Resumes Train Service Starting Sept. 21
Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) stated that after intensive repair efforts by supervisory personnel, the damaged section was reopened ahead of schedule on the morning of the 20th. Trial runs were then conducted and completed successfully, confirming that the line is safe for train operations. The main line of the Alishan Forest Railway (Chiayi ~ Fenqihu) will resume normal train services starting the 21st.
