Tired of nighttime singing and running? Kaohsiung City will hold an ultra-romantic “Moonlit Night Paddling” event, allowing the public to enjoy the beauty of Lotus Pond under the moonlight. In addition, the 2016 Kaohsiung Water Recreation Event “Let’s Love Water in Kaohsiung” has officially kicked off, featuring fun water competitions such as stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing at Lotus Pond, Love River, and Golden Lion Lake.

To allow travelers to experience a different kind of beauty in Kaohsiung, the authorities have specially launched fun water activities at well-known scenic water areas. Among them, the two-day-only “Moonlit Night Paddling” on October 15 and 16 has garnered significant attention, offering the public a chance to canoe on Lotus Pond while enjoying the beauty of Kaohsiung’s moonlight. Other water activities suitable for families include water sumo, fun paddle races, and river treasure hunts.

This year’s “Let’s Love Water in Kaohsiung” event saw an overwhelming response, with single-day participation exceeding 300 people. The Mid-Autumn holiday coincided with Typhoon Meranti, which impacted many scenic spots in Kaohsiung. Director Tseng stated: “Scenic spots such as Cijin, Lotus Pond, and Shoushan Zoo have all completed cleanup operations to ensure the quality and safety of the tourism environment. Everyone can visit Kaohsiung with peace of mind.” Travelers who haven’t had enough water activities this summer can head to Kaohsiung to catch the last bit of summer fun.
