A must-visit in your lifetime！ Comparable to Tsutaya Bookstore — Taiwan’s most beautiful library hidden in Taoyuan

Stop saying there’s nothing to do in Taoyuan—this city is home to Taiwan’s most stunning library！The “Taoyuan Municipal Library Longgang Branch”, which just opened in December 2015, features an exterior that resembles a giant open book, while its interior makes extensive use of wood elements to create a rustic and serene atmosphere, making it the most talked-about literary haven today.

The Taoyuan Municipal Library Longgang Branch was designed by the architectural firm Lu Chun-ting Architects. Architect Lu Chun-ting, who grew up in the Longgang area, wanted to create a unique building out of love for his hometown and to benefit local residents.

The Longgang Branch has a total of four floors above ground and two below, covering nearly 2,000 pyeong (approximately 6,600 square meters). Lu Chun-ting designed the building around the concept of “every book holds a rich world,” shaping the structure to resemble a massive book about to be opened. The side façade features 45 book-shaped windows that, when opened, look like pages unfolding—blending the essence of a library with the architecture itself and becoming one of its standout features.
