New Year’s Day is just around the corner！ According to the Central Weather Bureau, the first sunrise on Taiwan proper in 2016 will appear at 6:35 a.m. at Sanxiantai in Taitung. To welcome the sunrise, the Eastern Coastal National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has planned a series of sunrise-welcoming events, including the “On Light Concert,” “I-Lai Market,” and “Shout It Out to the Dawn,” among other exciting activities.

The “2015 Happy Bear Urban Carnival” is making its grand return, set to launch in grand style at Taichung Park. Blending the views of Sun Moon Lake and the historic Lake Heart Pavilion — a municipal heritage site — with the old streets of downtown Central Taichung, 100 teddy bears will pop up all over Taichung from Taichung Railway Station to Taichung Park.
