The "Happy Bear City Carnival," consisting of 100 teddy bears, debuts tomorrow (the 12th). This year’s teddy bear exhibition breaks with tradition by displaying a 7-meter-tall inflatable water teddy bear named "Happy Bear" on Riyue Lake in Taichung Park for the first time. ETtoday EBC News Cloud visited the exhibition area ahead of time to give readers a sneak peek at the incredibly cute Happy Bear.

The "Happy Bear City Carnival" debuts a 7-meter-tall inflatable water teddy bear named "Happy Bear" for the first time. At 2:30 p.m. today, the inflation officially began. After about an hour of inflation, as the bear transformed from a sleeping position to sitting upright on the lake, its super cute posture attracted many onlookers. "Happy Bear" will be exhibited in Taichung Park for 34 days and will head to Taipei for display after January 14.

Unlike previous exhibitions scattered around various corners of Taichung, this year’s teddy bear exhibit focuses primarily on Taichung Park, featuring 88 teddy bears. When it opens tomorrow (the 12th), 76 bears will be unveiled first, with 12 more appearing 21 days later. Additionally, there are 12 "Zodiac Bears" located in different streets and alleys across various districts of Taichung City, giving visitors the opportunity to explore different scenic spots through the appearances of these various teddy bears.

Yang Aicheng from the Taiwan Teddy Bear Association noted that this year’s exhibition is set in Taichung Park because this park, which features the municipal historic site Lake Heart Pavilion, holds nostalgic memories for many long-time residents of Taichung. The goal is to let visitors see a different side of Taichung beyond places like Autumn Valley and Grass and Enlightenment Path. The Happy Bear City Carnival will run for a total of 68 days. Starting in Taichung, it will be exhibited in Taichung Park from December 12, 2015, to January 14, 2016. From January 16 to February 18 of next year, an army of 100 teddy bears will march northward to occupy the Shilin Official Residence in Taipei.
