I had put Cacasonne on my must-try list as early as February 2016, mainly because of its high profile. In August, President Tsai Ing-wen visited the jujube orchards in Gongguan Township, Miaoli, and had a private lunch at Cacasonne, making the news again. This year, I finally made it there and took the opportunity to visit Dahua during strawberry season. The strawberry farms in the mountains are far superior to those on the plains—the strawberries are bright red and plump.
Located near Rainbow Village in Taichung, “Le Rouge” has been officially open for just over a month. The shop specializes in unique burgers. Aside from the “Smoker’s Burger,” which emits swirling smoke when served — reminiscent of the dramatic plating scenes from the anime “Cooking Master Boy” — there’s also the “Orange Yuzu Green,” combining orange, yuzu, sparkling water, and lemon. This drink cleverly plays on the name of a character from a TV drama, “Cheng Youqing,” showing impressive creativity.
