How to Know When “The Flower Goddess Has Arrived”? The Yangmingshan Flower Festival Is About to Kick Off

Before the Lunar New Year arrives, the Flower Goddess has already graced Taipei, with blossoms on the trees set to bloom in full splendor. The Spring Festival period is the perfect time for flower viewing. This year’s Yangmingshan Flower Festival will kick off on the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 12), themed “The Flower Goddess Has Arrived,” featuring a series of exciting activities.

The early spring bursts with vibrant floral seas, creating breathtaking landscapes on Yangmingshan. This year’s Yangmingshan Flower Festival, themed “The Flower Goddess Has Arrived,” will invite the Flower Goddess to bring the essence of spring to Yangmingshan through an opening ceremony, allowing every visitor to feel a warm sense of happiness. The ceremony will begin with a melodious string duet, bringing the refreshing atmosphere of spring blossoms to the audience. A renowned soprano dressed as the Flower Goddess will then spread the message of spring warmth and blooming flowers through a combination of powerful vocals and dance performances.

The opening ceremony of the 2013 Yangmingshan Flower Festival will be held on February 12 at the Flower Clock Plaza in Yangmingshan Park. It combines three major concepts—“Praying for Blessings, Welcoming the New Year,” “Spring Outings and Flower Viewing,” and “Clean Mountains and Pure Water”—with weekend events, offering a rich and diverse program. In the first week, “A Myriad of Blooms” aims to express the surprise and vitality of all things new in spring. Through astonishing magic tricks and balloon art performances, ordinary balloons will be transformed into beautiful petals.

In the second week’s event, “The Divine Melodies of the Flower Goddess,” visitors can enjoy moving music while immersing themselves in the natural ambiance of birdsong and insect chirps. The third week will feature humorous storytelling art interpreting “Laughter Among the Flowers.” For those who wish to preserve the beautiful memories of the Yangmingshan Flower Festival forever, the fourth week’s “Exquisite Craftsmanship” event will allow them to create unique, everlasting mementos using the beautiful flowers from Yangmingshan.

In addition to the themed series of events, there will also be performances by local schools and community groups around Yangmingshan during the flower festival. Moreover, this year’s flower festival mascot—natural ecology documentarian Teacher Huang Hongwen—will present captivating ecological documentary films and lectures, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of Yangmingshan’s ecological environment and raising awareness about the importance of protecting nature.

At the end of the flower festival, to express gratitude to the Flower Goddess, the organizers will hold the “Tribute to the Flower Goddess – Yangmingshan Clean Mountains and Pure Water Activity,” hoping that the public will join hands in caring for nature and preserving Yangmingshan’s beautiful environment. All participants will receive a specially made exquisite souvenir for the flower festival. Everyone is welcome to step outdoors, head to Yangmingshan, enjoy the most beautiful and vibrant early spring moments of nature, and experience a series of wonderful activities.

The park authorities remind the public to make use of public transportation, including bus route 260 from Dongyuan Wanda Road via Ming Chuan University to Yangmingshan, route 109 from Gongguan Xinglong Road via Ming Chuan University to Yangmingshan, route 111 from Xinzhuang Lesheng Sanatorium via Taipei Metro Jiantan Station to Yangmingshan, and Red 5 from Taipei Metro Jiantan Station to Yangmingshan. Taking the bus up the mountain to view the flowers helps avoid the hassle of parking and traffic congestion.
