Qigu Salt Mountain in Tainan has a brand-new mascot—a two-story-tall “giant penguin” standing on the snow-white salt mountain. This year, combining the concepts of environmental protection and caring guardianship, a dapper, chubby, and adorable Mr. Penguin dressed in a suit made a grand debut. He’s set to be the most unmissable character-themed attraction of 2018!

Qigu Salt Mountain in Tainan previously gained nationwide fame with installations such as owls and money cats. The adorable giant animals atop the snow-white salt mountain were incredibly popular. This time, a 6.6-meter-tall, 6.7-meter-wide Mr. Penguin serves as an Earth-loving ambassador, standing on the salt mountain to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Qigu Salt Mountain has long been a key destination for school field trips at all levels and one of the most beloved tourist spots in Taiwan. The newly added Mr. Penguin, with his honest and goofy appearance and warm charm, is expected to make Qigu Salt Mountain a must-visit photo spot in 2018 under the leadership of this “contrast-cute” penguin.

The Qigu Salt Mountain penguin installation art exhibition opens today. The park has set up a dedicated penguin sales area and has recently launched exclusive limited-edition penguin plush toys, handmade soaps, postcards, and other merchandise. On the opening day, pre-sales of the penguin plush toy started at just 599 NTD—come get yours early. In addition, to celebrate the New Year’s Eve and New Year holidays, Qigu Salt Mountain will also hold various events from time to time.
