Jiangjiayingzi Mountain Fortress

Jiangjiayingzi Mountain Fortress is located on Qianpingding Mountain in Jiangjiayingzi Township on the outskirts of Chifeng, locally known as "Motianling." The fortress stands atop a solitary, prominent peak that resembles a circular platform when viewed from afar. It is surrounded by large mountains to the west, north, and northeast. The mountaintop is relatively flat, with artificially built stone walls on the western side. Inside the fortress, there are over 40 circular stone house foundations, the largest with a diameter of 8 meters, the smallest 2–3 meters, and most around 5–6 meters. There is also an ancient well within the western part of the fortress, which has now dried up. The southeastern corner of the fortress appears to have a gate site, about 6 meters wide, flanked by natural standing stones. The outer slope is relatively gentle and can be climbed.

This is a typical mountain fortress site from the Western Zhou to the Spring and Autumn periods, built by the Donghu (or Shanrong) people who were active in the upper reaches of the West Liao River.
