As summer vacation approaches and tourism flourishes, the demand for accommodations has risen sharply. Taipei City has established 26 new hotels this year, bringing the total number of hotels in the city to 480, with over 30,000 rooms. The Taipei City Tourism Bureau advises guests to check the hotel license number before booking to avoid staying in illegal establishments and potential disputes. Additionally, from budget-friendly clean hotels with convenient transportation to top-tier five-star services, Taipei City offers a wide range of options.

With an increasing number of backpackers traveling to Taiwan independently, it’s common to see them exploring the streets of Taipei, fueling the rise of youth hostels.Alone, the Zhongzheng and Ximending areas are home to over ten youth hostels, such as Ximengwo Youth Hostel, PinGezi Inn, Space Inn Capsule Hotel, Shellwo Youth Hostel, Mr. Lobster’s Secret Lair, and Three Tigers Youth Hostel.In addition, the city government is optimistic about the future of youth hostels. Aside from the Xiyuu Hotel on the second floor of Shuanglian Market, which offers youth hostel services, plans are underway to establish a second youth hostel in the Emerging Market.

Currently, both youth hostels and affordable specialty hotels are growing in number. These uniquely themed small-scale accommodations include some that offer bed pricing for even greater affordability. Youth hostels typically feature communal spaces where guests can exchange travel experiences and daily life stories with travelers from around the world, making them especially suitable for young visitors. There are a total of 82 hotels in Taipei with daily rates under NT$2,000, primarily located near Taipei Main Station and the Ximending area, offering excellent transportation access and comprehensive commercial facilities. These accommodations not only meet fire safety and building regulations but also maintain a clean environment, with most situated close to MRT stations for easy transit, making them a key reference for travelers seeking a place to stay.
