"Artistic Journey to Xikou" Free Guided Tours – Discover the Hidden Gems of Taipei’s Songshan District

The Taipei Xikou Cultural Festival is set to kick off on May 16, and the Songshan District Office has specially launched three "Artistic Journey to Xikou" free guided tour activities. Led by professional guides, participants will explore various scenic spots and historical sites in the Songshan District in depth. Registration is now open and will run until May 10.

"Xikou" is the former name of the Songshan District, which in the language of the Pingpu indigenous people means "a bend in the river," referring to the present-day Keelung River. It was not renamed Songshan until the Japanese colonial period.

To help the public learn about the district’s past history, as well as its diverse natural landscapes and historical monuments, the Songshan District Office has planneda Historical Tour of Ciyun Temple,an Exploration of the Xikou Green Trail, andan Artistic Journey to Xikou for Kids’ Fun—three tour routes divided into morning and afternoon sessions, totaling six events in all. These tours will take participants on a walking journey to admire various attractions across Songshan and gain an understanding of the area's historical and cultural background.
