Typhoon Dujuan to hit Taiwan on the 28th; Rail and road, air flight adjustments (updates ongoing)

Typhoon Dujuan to hit Taiwan on the 28th, with transportation across the island beginning to be affected from the evening of the 27th. The current status of transportation adjustments is summarized and updated as follows (updates ongoing)

Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA)
According to the 9th report on Typhoon No. 21 by the Central Weather Bureau, TRA’s train operation plan for Monday, September 28, is as follows:Updated at 9:30 AM on September 28

I. Scheduled Express Trains: East Coast Main Line (between Taipei–Hualien–Taitung) in both directions from 10:00 AM; West Coast Main Line (between Keelung–Pingtung) northbound from 4:00 PM, southbound from 5:00 PM; South Link Line (between Kaohsiung–Taitung) in both directions from 6:00 PM will be suspended.
(I)East Coast Main Line trains to be suspended from 10:00 AM:: 1. All trains from Taipei to Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung will be suspended after the departure of Puyuma No. 170 (departing Taipei Station at 10:00 AM).
2. All trains from Taitung, Hualien, and Yilan to Taipei will be suspended after the departure of Puyuma No. 8739 (departing Taitung Station at 10:00 AM, Hualien Station at 11:40 AM).
(II)
West Coast Main Line northbound from 4:00 PM, southbound from 5:00 PM:: 1. All trains from Pingtung and Kaohsiung to Taipei will be suspended after the departure of Puyuma No. 138 (departing Pingtung Station at 3:07 PM, Kaohsiung Station at 3:37 PM), except for Local Train No. 518 (Hualien Line) (departing Kaohsiung Station at 3:00 PM), which will operate only as far as Changhua.Trains from Taipei to Kaohsiung and Pingtung will be suspended after the departure of Puyuma No. 139 (departing Taipei Station at 5:00 PM).

2.(III)South Link Line trains to be suspended from 6:00 PM:
. 1. All trains from Taitung to Kaohsiung will be suspended after the departure of Local Train No. 708 (departing Taitung Station at 5:47 PM).2. All trains from Kaohsiung to Taitung will be suspended after the departure of Local Train No. 705 (departing Kaohsiung Station at 5:10 PM).II. Alishan Forest Railway will be fully suspended all day on the 28th.
III. All branch lines (Pingxi, Shen’ao, Neiwan, Liujia, Jiji, Shasih…) will be suspended from 5:00 PM.
IV. All local commuter trains will operate flexibly depending on wind and rain conditions.

V. Due to changes in the typhoon situation, passengers are advised to check the latest train operation status before departure through:

VI. To ensure the safety of ticket collection and protect passengers' ticket purchase rights, the deadline for online ticket booking (including voice booking) and group ticket collection (including payment of group reservation deposits) originally scheduled for September 28 is extended to September 29.

VII. In the event of train suspensions or route disruptions during the typhoon, passengers holding unused tickets may request a full refund at the nearest station within 15 days (including the day of issue).

High-Speed Rail
The High-Speed Rail announced on the evening of the 27th,28that all trains will be canceled after 3:00 p.m., reminding passengers to pay attention to their travel times.The High-Speed Rail stated that trains will depart according to the schedule on the morning of the 28th. After the last departure from the terminal stations at 3:00 p.m. (Train 708 heading northbound and Train 709 heading southbound), all services will be suspended. Passengers returning north are advised to be mindful of their travel times.
