A charter flight from Matsuyama, Shikoku, Japan, arrived in Taiwan on November 20. On the morning of November 22 at 10:00, a Matsuyama promotion event was held on the first floor of the Taipei City Hall, where oranges — a specialty of Ehime Prefecture — were distributed, and Japanese samurai armor was displayed for public viewing to enhance exchanges with Taipei.
On November 22, the city of Matsuyama, Shikoku, Japan, held an event at the Taipei City Hall lobby featuring traditional Japanese song and dance performances.
A total of 156 local officials and tourism representatives from Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, participated in this charter visit to Taiwan. They will stay in Taipei for three nights and four days, and visited the Taipei International Flora Expo on the 20th.
Not only that, to promote tourism in Matsuyama City, on the 22nd, the city hall lobby distributed a limited quantity of agricultural products including oranges and Japanese tea sweets for visitors to sample. There were also Japanese koto music performances and samurai armor try-on experiences, allowing participants to enjoy Matsuyama’s culture and local performing arts. The Japanese tea ceremony experience on November 22 used local Tenmoku tea bowls and Dogo Onsen hot spring water, with 500 spots available. Additionally, 5,000 “Ehime oranges” were given out on-site.
During the event, a total of 5,000 oranges from Ehime Prefecture, Japan, were distributed for the enjoyment of Taipei residents.
The Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism stated that the two cities — Taipei’s Songshan District and Matsuyama City in Shikoku — have been engaging in closer exchanges in recent years due to their shared name “Songshan.” The aim is to deepen mutual understanding of each other’s cultures among citizens. For those who couldn’t attend the November 22 orange tasting event, Ehime Prefecture oranges will also be available for purchase at A11 in Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s Xinyi Store from November 19 to November 28, allowing everyone to enjoy an autumn delicacy.
