Saadian Tombs
The Saadian Tombs are located in Marrakech and date back to the era of Ahmad I al-Mansur (1578–1603). They were only discovered in 1917. Beneath simple brickwork and marble tombstones lie the remains of 66 individuals from the Saadian dynasty, including King Ahmad I al-Mansur and his royal family.
The Saadian Tombs showcase exquisite wooden carved ceilings, the outstanding craftsmanship of Arab artisans, and vibrant floor tiles, with elegant domes surrounding the tombs. The site consists of three rooms, the most famous being the tomb of Ahmad I al-Mansur, supported by 12 columns that stand like guards protecting the tomb. Outside the Saadian Tombs lies a park, which serves as the burial ground for over 100 servants and soldiers.
