Maoergou Rock Carvings
The Maoergou Rock Carvings are located on the cliffs at the mouth of Maoergou, about 1 kilometer southeast of the Wulanbuhe Coal Mine and 12 kilometers northeast of downtown Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia. The carvings are densely distributed on the southern cliffs.
Maoergou is one of the grand canyons of the Zhuozi Mountain Range, and the rock carvings here also exhibit a strong primitive religious character, serving as a sacred site for ancient nomadic peoples.
