Ulanhaote Botanical Garden is located in the northern part of the city and has been rated as a 2A-level tourist attraction. It was formerly the nursery of the Ulanhaote Municipal Gardens Authority. It is an open urban garden that integrates afforestation, sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment. The garden's overall appearance and layout are now taking shape, receiving around 300,000 visitors annually. The roads within the garden are well-connected, and the total paved area covers 3.8 hectares. There are four entrances—West Gate, South Gate, East Gate, and North Gate—all built in 2010. The garden has established several themed areas, including the Little Dragon Lake Recreation Zone, Ning Garden, Flower Area, Mulberry Garden, Twin Pavilion Garden, Conifer Viewing Area, and Broadleaf Tree Viewing Area. The scenery changes with every step, and along the sightseeing routes, various landscape features have been arranged, such as a hundred-meter corridor, an ancient-style beacon tower (modeled after the ones remaining from the Ming Dynasty, which originally stood 20 kilometers south of the city on the banks of the Yellow River), streams, waterside pavilions, gazebos, flower stands, sculptures, wooden boardwalks, fountains, and tensile membrane structures. The construction of the botanical garden not only fulfills functions such as seedling cultivation, afforestation, scientific research, and promotion but also enhances its role as an open garden for sightseeing, recreation, entertainment, and leisure. With a focus on plant-based landscapes integrated with various styles of natural garden design, the garden has developed 11 scenic areas and multiple attractions.
